They say you can’t put a price on happiness, but that doesn’t mean you can’t at least know how much it will cost.
It’s an investment
When people call inquiring about a hillside elevator, one of the first questions is: “How much does it cost?” By this time, they have probably determined they want or need a lift. But human nature compels us to look at the price tag before we fully commit to a purchase. And it’s smart business to look at the complete picture and know what we are purchasing ahead of time.
A hillside elevator is a significant investment, but a Marine Innovations elevator will last for decades. Remember, you get what you pay for. Investing in quality will give you peace of mind.
Cost Factors
There are many factors that determine hillside elevator cost. The most obvious is the size of the system. The overall length and angle of the track make a huge impact on the cost of materials and the installation labor. System capacity is another factor. In addition to more materials for the carriage and trolley, it may require increasing the size of the drive motor, gearbox, cable and track material.
The options making the hillside elevator fit your needs will also impact the price. Some options, like canopies and windscreens, are for passenger comfort. Some, like our self-leveling system, are to accommodate angle changes through the system travel. Also, for safety and security, we offer carriage lighting, keypad or key fob access and landing gates. You may want to add additional stopping locations to access all different levels of your property. We offer many options to customize your hillside elevator to fit your needs. Check out this video to learn more about our options.
Location Matters
The location of your hillside elevator system will impact the cost. Your state, county or municipality may have requirements beyond the ASME elevator code that stipulate special equipment or processes. Some areas only require a basic building permit, others will require a site survey and maybe a geotechnical survey. Although most installations utilize our engineered pin piles, some municipalities may require concrete footings, areas with extremely rocky terrain may require rock anchors.
Once we have located the installation area for your system, there are some site preparations before we can install the hillside elevator system. An electrician will need to bring power to the top of the system. This is required so the system can be installed and tested. Your Marine Innovations sales representative or dealer will locate the best path for your system. They will let you know if any excavation is needed to properly install your system. After the hillside elevator system is installed, a contractor may be required to install or update current decks and landings to safely match the carriage and install landing gates.
